Cognac, March 12, 2025 – On the occasion of its centenary, Vicard Cooperage has been awarded the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (EPV) label, joining the exclusive circle of French companies recognized for their outstanding craftsmanship. This distinction highlights a century of expertise in the manufacturing of barrels, tanks, and casks, and emphasizes the company’s commitment to preserving traditions while continuing its innovation process.
A Legacy of Six Generations
The history of Vicard Cooperage dates back to 1925 when Paul Vicard joined the family cooperage led by his father-in-law, Armand Bourdaraud, in Cognac.
The company officially became Bourdaraud & Vicard in 1950 and later Vicard Père et Fils in 1968, when Paul partnered with his son Jean Vicard, Meilleur Ouvrier de France 1965. Today, led by Jean-Charles Vicard, representing the sixth generation, the company remains true to its heritage while continuing to grow.
“Receiving this distinction is a great honor, as it highlights our multi-generational craftsmanship and underscores the initiatives we are undertaking today to blend tradition and innovation,” says the leader.
A Strong Commitment to Innovation and CSR
Vicard Cooperage is also distinguished by its innovative spirit and commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). For nearly 30 years, the company has implemented concrete actions to reduce its environmental impact, ensure the well-being of its coopers, and actively contribute to local development. These efforts have been rewarded with a bronze medal from ECOVADIS, and today, with the EPV label.
“This is just the beginning,” says Jean-Charles Vicard. Building on its century-long heritage, Vicard Cooperage is confidently looking to the future, ready to innovate to face tomorrow’s challenges and maintain its pioneering role in the cooperage industry.
