The highly anticipated wine label debuts with an exclusive launch dinner in Napa Valley Ahead of BottleRock Festival
NAPA VALLEY, CA – May 30, 2025 — A deeply personal collaboration years in the making, Prophet & Poet, a new ultra-premium wine label founded by Jessica Biel, Justin and Rose Biel, Jesse Katz, and Chris and Ariel Jackson, brand officially debuted on Thursday, May 22, with an intimate launch celebration at Upper Barn Vineyard in Healdsburg CA, presented in partnership with three-Michelin-starred SingleThread.
The story of Prophet & Poet began in 2019 on the beaches of Mexico at Justin Biel’s wedding, where his sister, Jessica Biel, gifted a one-of-a-kind, custom wine made by family friend and celebrated winemaker, Jesse Katz. Named Prophet & Poet, a nod to the spiritual and literary essence of the newlyweds, the barrel was meant to be shared only by family. But as the wine matured and its story deepened, the Biel and Katz families felt compelled to share its magic with the world.
“Prophet & Poet began as a personal gift, a symbol of love and connection within our family,” said Jessica Biel. “Watching it evolve from that special moment into something we can now share with the world is incredibly meaningful, and I’m excited for others to experience the story and spirit of these wines.”
To complete the founding team, the group brought on Chris & Ariel Jackson, proprietors of Jackson Family Wines, and used fruit sourced from the Jacksons’ most storied Sonoma County vineyards. The inaugural 2021 vintage includes five small-lot critically acclaimed wines:
- Black Crown Cabernet Sauvignon (100 pts)
- Mountain Sage Proprietary Red (100 pts)
- Mourning Cloak Proprietary Red (99 pts)
- Ghost Cat Chardonnay (97 pts)
- King Bird Chardonnay (97 pts)
Crafted by Katz at his state-of-the-art Aperture Cellars facility, and blended in tandem with Chris Jackson, these wines showcase a modern yet reverent approach to winemaking, pairing structure with soul, and tradition with expression.

Each bottle is a multisensory experience, featuring original poetry from Prophet Rosita Biel and Poet Justin Biel, calligraphy by Master Penman Jake Weidmann, Original Label Concept and Logo Illustration by Ellen Riendeau of Soda Rock Studios, back-label artwork by visual artist Darren Le Gallo and award-winning packaging by DESIGNTHIS!
With only 900 cases produced in the 2021 vintage, Prophet and Poet is a rare, limited release, crafted for discerning collectors and wine enthusiasts, already appearing on the lists of acclaimed restaurants.

Christopher, the son of Barbara Banke and Jess Jackson, is a next generation proprietor of Jackson Family Wines. Since his first harvest at Stonestreet Winery when he was 12 years old, Chris has been fully immersed in the wine business, with a particular focus on and passion for viticulture and the art of blending. He is a graduate of Santa Clara University and the UC Berkeley School of Law.
