FREDERICK, MD — May 22, 2025 — The Spirits of Maryland event series is returning to Frederick this summer for an exciting weekend of tastings, education, showcases and entertainment. Presented by Visit Frederick, the Spirits of Maryland: Frederick tasting event will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the new Visitation Hotel in the heart of historic Downtown Frederick.
This signature tasting event features handcrafted spirits from nearly 20 Maryland distilleries, all available for sampling and bottle sales. Guests can expect an afternoon full of local flavor, live music, food trucks and unique artisan vendors.
“This event is special because it connects curious consumers directly with the people making their spirits. There’s no better way to discover new favorites and support Maryland businesses,” said Eli Breitburg-Smith, co-founder of Baltimore Spirits Company and president of the Maryland Distillers Guild.
Tasting Event Schedule
The day begins at 12:00 PM with a spirits education workshop hosted by Whiskey University. This workshop is included in the Connoisseur Package or can be purchased as an add-on to VIP and General Admission tasting tickets.
Guests arriving for the VIP tasting receive early entry at 1:00 PM, a signature cocktail and access to exclusive pours. General Admission begins at 2:00 PM, with access to all distillery tastings and event activities.
Local food favorites Box Car Burgers, Old Line Tailgate BBQ and Traditional Authentic Mexican Food will be on site throughout the event.
Make It a Weekend
This experience is more than a tasting event, it’s an opportunity to discover Frederick. Starting Thursday, explore Maryland spirits at local bars, restaurants and distillery tasting rooms throughout the city. For a special experience, don’t miss the paired cocktail dinner Friday evening at Wye Oak Tavern on the beautiful Visitation Hotel property.

Guests are encouraged to make a weekend of their visit to Frederick. The Visitation Hotel is offering a special event room rate of $229 per night for Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21. Rooms are limited and this booking rate is valid for reservations made by June 6.
