Carter Creek Winery Resort & Spa Featured in Upcoming PBS Special “Hidden Gems of Texas Hill Country”

Guests Invited to Explore the Region’s Best-Kept Secrets Through Curated Tastings and Local Discovery

May 19, 2025 (JOHNSON CITY, Texas) – Carter Creek Winery Resort & Spa, a family-owned destination in the heart of Texas Hill Country, will be featured in renowned long-time travel host Peter Greenberg’s upcoming PBS television special, “Hidden Gems of Texas Hill Country.”

The episode, airing the week of May 18, explores the rich history, natural beauty and pioneering spirit of the region. Among the highlights are the legacy of wine industry trailblazer Doc McPherson – father of Carter Creek’s master winemaker Jon McPherson – and the craft brewing expertise of Carter Creek’s head brewer Justin Zimmerman. The program takes viewers “beyond the glass” to showcase Texas Hill Country’s limestone caves, the first whiskey distillery in Texas, the story of Hye, Texas, and more.
