Layered like a canvas and crafted to leave an indelible mark on the world of luxury, Collage is Aperture’s ode to creativity, complexity, and the spirit of the vintage
Healdsburg, CA – (May 6, 2025) – Aperture, the acclaimed Sonoma County winery founded by first-generation winemaker Jesse Katz, is proud to announce the official release of Collage, the most ambitious and artistically driven wine in the brand’s portfolio to date. Bold and boundary-breaking luxury wines that redefine the limits of artistry and craftsmanship, Collage is the culmination of over a decade of precision farming, winemaking innovation, and creative vision. Inspired by the avant-garde, this wine celebrates the intersection of cultural significance, creative expression, and the rich diversity of its origins.

Collage represents the natural evolution of Aperture’s journey: a visionary new chapter that honors the complexity of Sonoma’s terroir while embracing the power of diversity. At its core, the collection embodies the essence of a layered piece of art–melding the finest elements from multiple vineyards into a singular, transcendent masterpiece. Representing a selection from 200 acres of vineyards from five distinct appellations, including estate vines planted back in 1912, Jesse and the Aperture team have blended only the best of the best vineyard lots from each vintage year into two breathtaking wines: the 2022 Proprietary White Wine and the 2021 Proprietary Red Wine.
Collage embodies the best expressions from each of Aperture’s unique sites and layers them to create something entirely new—an unprecedented expression of Sonoma County. It’s the true art of blending, drawing from over 300 individual lots each vintage to craft the very best in wine. Reflecting once-in-a-lifetime terroirs, Jesse Katz has tapped his global experience spanning more than 25 harvests to create this cultural statement that celebrates the extraordinary.
“Collage is the wine I’ve been dreaming of making since the beginning—a culmination of years of exploration, collaboration, and craftsmanship. With access to a diverse palette of vineyard lots and cutting-edge techniques at our custom-built winery, we created a wine that doesn’t just express a place—it captures a moment in time.” – Jesse Katz, Founder and Winemaker of Aperture
The 2022 Proprietary White Wine is a distinctive blend of Sauvignon Blanc sourced from dramatically diverse sites from the 2022 vintage, aged for 18 months in barrel followed by six months in custom concrete vessels—refining its focus and purity while amplifying the wine’s layered complexity. Aged for 24 months in barrel, six months in custom concrete vessels, and one year in bottle, the 2021 Proprietary Red Wine is a masterwork of intentional blending from the 2021 vintage, extended aging, and a commitment to excellence that sets a new standard in California wine.
The brand pillars for Collage–Artistry, Community, Collection, and Diversity–define the project as an elevated experience designed to inspire and connect us all to art. Collage is a deeply meaningful expression of collaboration, where growers, artisans, and creatives come together to create something that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
A design approach inspired by the art of winemaking and photography, the label is a layered homage to both the structure and spontaneity of artistic creation. Rooted in the legacy of Jesse’s father, celebrated photographer Andy Katz—whose photographs have served as labels for Aperture wines from the beginning—the Collage design image is a curated compilation of hundreds of Andy’s photographs captured over the years from around the world, layered and collaged into a singular work of art, reflecting the essence of Aperture wines. Each image draws inspiration from the journey, embodying the diverse stories and landscapes that shape the brand’s wine portfolio.
Juxtaposing sharp, geometric motifs drawn from a camera shutter, symbolizing moments in time with the fluid unpredictability of a hand-drawn wax drip, the visual identity of Collage mirrors the wine’s philosophy: a harmonious interplay of precision and intuition. Together, they create a dynamic synergy and tension that reflects the duality of both crafts. It is a tribute to the moments we frame, the ones we let unfold, and the transformative power of creativity. A groundbreaking expression of time and place, Collage is winemaking reimagined as living, breathing art.
“As a photographer, I’ve always been drawn to the magic of the moment—the way a single frame can capture something fleeting yet profound, Collage reflects that same spirit. It’s a wine that speaks to the depth, complexity, and artistry we strive for in any great image or great vintage.” – Andy Katz, photographer Each vintage of Collage will be a one-of-a-kind expression, honoring the vintage through intentional blending, extended aging, and a commitment to excellence that sets a new standard in California wine. The inaugural vintage will include the 2022 Proprietary White Wine, three box set price: $375 and the 2021 Proprietary Red Wine, three box set price: $1,275. The much anticipated first release will be available starting May 13th 2025 through Aperture’s website, https://aperture-cellars.com/collage/, and later this summer at their estate tasting room.
