Waterloo Gin Relaunches with Sophisticated New Design and National U.S. Expansion

Texas-Based Gin’s Rebrand Follows Last Year’s Acquisition by Entrepreneur John Paul DeJoria, Founder of Patrón Tequila and Paul Mitchell Hair Care

AUSTIN, TX (April 28, 2025) – Waterloo Gin, the first gin brand to be distilled in Texas, is expanding into new U.S. markets with an updated and modernized new package design. The relaunch follows the brand’s acquisition from Treaty Oak Distilling last year by entrepreneur and philanthropist John Paul DeJoria, the self-made billionaire founder of Patrón Tequila and Paul Mitchell hair care.

Waterloo Gin is craft distilled in the Texas Hill Country town of Dripping Springs, near Austin. The brand was named after the original name for Austin – Waterloo – before the city was rechristened in the 1830s for Texas pioneer Stephen F. Austin.

The stylish and elegant new Waterloo Gin package was designed to evoke the vibrant beauty of Austin and the graceful charm of the surrounding Hill Country. The updated wood cork-topped bottle features an aesthetically striking taller design, and the new label is subtly adorned with images of grapefruit, lavender, and pecan, just some of the nine local fruits and botanicals vapor-infused to distill Waterloo Gin.

“Waterloo Gin is the liquid embodiment of grace – simple, refined, and elegant. Now, with our detailed new redesign, our package truly matches the quality, sophistication, and craftsmanship of the liquid inside the bottle, while honoring the legacy and proud history of our origin in the Texas Hill Country,” says Waterloo Gin’s CEO Justin Meigs.

Also, as part of the brand’s comprehensive relaunch, Waterloo Gin has partnered with several U.S. wholesalers, including Breakthru Beverage Group, Empire Distributors, Johnson Brothers Distributors, Kentucky Eagle, and Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) to expand distribution beyond the current markets of Texas and Florida. Waterloo Gin also available for purchase online.

The brand’s flagship Waterloo No. 9 Gin (94 proof) is crafted in the New American style, distilled with limestone-filtered spring water and local botanicals. The portfolio also includes the newly rebranded Waterloo Barrel-Aged Gin (also 94 proof), a unique and innovative gin which spends two years in new American white oak barrels, creating complex yet beautifully balanced notes of wood spices, floral, and citrus. Additionally, a highly distinctive and original new release in the Waterloo portfolio will be introduced later this summer. Waterloo Gins are naturally 100% gluten, carb, and additive free.

Waterloo Gin is delicious in any number of classic and inventive cocktails, including this recipe for the Waterloo Sour:

Ingredients

2 oz Waterloo No. 9 Gin
½ oz dry vermouth
¾ oz fresh lemon juice
¾ oz lavender simple syrup
2 slices of cucumber, for muddling 1 bar spoon absinthe (optional)
1 egg white
lavender sprig, for garnish

Method:

In a cocktail shaker, add the cucumber slices and lavender simple syrup (see instruction below). Muddle until combined. Then add the lemon juice and egg white. Dry shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Next add the Waterloo Gin, dry vermouth, and absinthe with ice. Shake until chilled. Double strain into a chilled cocktail coupe. Garnish with a lavender sprig.

(To make the lavender simple syrup, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 tablespoon of dried culinary lavender in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 15-20 minutes. Strain out the dried lavender, and let it cool in the refrigerator)
