Fulfillment of a Twenty Year Vision

April 23, 2025 (Sonoma Coast, CA) — Nestweaver, a new boutique Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir brand founded by Arietta Wine co-proprietor Caren Frutig Hatton, announces the release of its first two vintages to the fine wine market. The release of the 2021 and 2022 vintages of Nestweaver Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir are the culmination of Frutig Hatton’s two-decade dream to create elegant, site-driven Pinot Noir from the cool climate of Western Sonoma County. Nestweaver’s debut also marks Patrick Nyeholt’s first-ever role as head winemaker, following a decade serving as associate winemaker alongside Andy Erickson at Arietta Wine and other prestigious Napa Valley brands.

Frutig Hatton and Nyeholt’s philosophies centers on “strategy without a recipe,” prioritizing vineyard intimacy and adaptive, gentle techniques to capture the delicate characteristics and harmonious tension offered by the Corpuel Family Vineyard fruit.

Nyeholt’s transition to winemaker at Nestweaver leverages his deep understanding of Frutig Hatton’s refined aesthetic and their shared love of cool climate Pinot Noir. “Nestweaver represents the elegant, nuanced Pinot Noir I envisioned creating for over twenty years, and Patrick Nyeholt is the winemaker to bring my vision to fruition,” says Frutig Hatton.

Nestweaver found its ideal home at the Corpuel Family Vineyard in the cool Bluchard Valley in the Sebastopol Hills. Upon years of waiting for a distinctive site, Frutig Hatton’s long-term vision was realized when Arietta Winemaker, Andy Erickson, discovered the hidden gem in 2020. After numerous tasting trials, the following year, Nestweaver bottled its first wine from the vineyard with the 2021 vintage. “Working with Corpuel Family Vineyard gives us an incredible foundation for creating a truly distinctive Pinot Noir,” says Nyeholt. “I look forward to collaborating with Caren and vineyard owner, Jeffrey Corpuel, to further understand how the various soils,  microclimates and clones interact across the vineyard’s dramatic gradients to produce complex and layered wines.”

“This vineyard shows extraordinary promise, and has produced Pinot Noir with structure, texture and delicacy which was my vision for the brand,” adds Frutig Hatton. “Patrick embodies our vision perfectly, bringing intuition, deep experience, and a passion for bringing through the Corpuel vineyard’s distinctive characteristics.”

2021 Nestweaver was released in the fall of 2024 and is sold out. Production of the 2022 Nestweaver Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir was 140 cases. Guests may taste the 2022 Nestweaver Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ($125) as part of private tasting experiences at Hudson Vineyards in Carneros. About Nestweaver
Nestweaver Wines, founded in 2021 by Caren Frutig Hatton, is committed to making refined wines from the Sonoma Coast. Inspired by generations of female influence and named in homage to Caren’s grandmother, Nestweaver not only honors the loving sanctuary her grandmother created, but was also born from Caren’s lifelong fascination with birds and their intricate nest-building rituals, which symbolize her own approach to making wine—patient, detail-oriented and thoughtful. Adding a third generation, Frutig Hatton’s daughter, Hattie, created the label featuring a Weaver Bird building its nest.
