Healdsburg, CA, April 2, 2025 — Gary Farrell Winery, the iconic estate overlooking Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley, is thrilled to announce the inaugural release of its 2023 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (SRP $50). Embodying the appellation’s stunning beauty and unique terroir, the 2023 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir expands Gary Farrell Winery’s AVA designated wines, a tier of regionally expressive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines crafted from exceptional vineyards.
The Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir explores the majesty of this rugged, fog-shrouded appellation and is comprised of grapes sourced from some of the winery’s celebrated vineyard partners, including Gap’s Crown, Lancel Creek, Terra de Promissio, and Durell. “These vineyards share the cool, continuous coastal winds that produce tiny berries and thick skins, driving deep, brooding concentration and structure,” says Brent McKoy, Winemaker. “Misty, lower-elevation vineyards with short windows of sunlight contribute layers of savory earth and spice, finely balanced by the dark blue and purple fruit of sites basking in direct sunshine above the fog line. Our 2023 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a wine of remarkable depth and complexity.”
Gary Farrell has long been dedicated to capturing a unique sense of place with every wine, and the 2023 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir embodies that commitment. “As a producer of cool climate Pinot Noir, introducing a Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir as a stylistic counterpoint to our highly regarded Russian River Valley Pinot Noir was an exciting and overdue opportunity given our history of crafting elegant single vineyard Pinots from the Sonoma Coast.” says Stephanie Wycoff, General Manager.
With the release of the 2023 vintage of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and 2024 Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc, Gary Farrell unveils a new wine package including fresh label and closure designs and the elimination of foil capsules. The new labels evoke a subtle sense of wanderlust and reflect a modernized approach while preserving the timelessness of Gary Farrell’s classic look. The elimination of foil closures rounds out the updated design and correlates to the winery’s commitment to sustainability. “While honoring our 40-year legacy and reimagining Gary Farrell’s future amidst this transitional time for the wine industry, our leadership team recognized an exciting opportunity for a subtle yet significant evolution,” says Wycoff. “Gary Farrell wines are crafted to elevate and celebrate the moment, and we seek for them to be enjoyed multi-generationally. With that mission and today’s consumer preferences in mind, we saw it as an ideal time to update and enhance our approach.”
The 2023 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is launching now and will be available nationwide to retailers and restaurants through Vintus and direct-to-consumer from Gary Farrell Winery.
