Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon Solidifies its Place as Paso Robles Leading Luxury Cabernet Sauvignon
November 23, 2020 (Paso Robles, Calif.) – Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon is selected by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as #7 of The Enthusiast Top 100 of 2020. This marks the second year in a row that the Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon has made the top 10 list and the only Paso Robles wine to do so.
Austin’s continued passion for elevating Paso Robles as a premier wine region in the world has been a lifelong goal that he shares with the Paso wine community. “It is just incredible to have our wine make the Top 10 list for the second year in a row. I feel like Paso Robles Wine Country has finally caught the attention it has so long deserved,” says Austin Hope.
Matt Kettmann of Wine Enthusiast describes the 2018 vintage, noting “Quite dark in the glass, this reliable crowd-pleaser begins with hearty aromas of black currant, black plum, lush oak and caramel, a hint of olive and loads of clove and nutmeg spice. The mouthfeel is hearty and rich with just enough tannic weight to balance the creamy black cherry, caramel and chocolate ice cream flavors, which lead to an oaky finish.”
It is not commonplace for a wine to reach iconic status just a few years from its inception, but that is exactly what the Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon has done. For Hope, this hasn’t been overnight success though; this has been 20 years in the making and a true team effort from vineyard to winemaking. Each member of Hope Family Wines brings an expertise that is irreplaceable.
The team has zeroed in on 5 sub-AVAs of the 11 sub-AVAs established in Paso Robles in 2014. Those districts include Adelaida District, Creston District, El Pomar District, Paso Robles Estrella District, and Paso Robles Geneseo District. Each of these districts have developed into areas of significance, capturing the diverse characteristics of Paso Robles. “We feel these 5 areas are capable of producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon year after year and are capable of producing the quality we need to support the success of the Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon.”
The 2018 Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon, $56 suggested retail price, is available 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm in the tasting room (1585 Live Oak Road, Paso Robles), and can be found across the US and in 17 Countries around the world.
ABOUT AUSTIN HOPE – Austin Hope grew up in Paso Robles, working alongside his father and inheriting his love and respect for the region. He led the family’s move into winemaking in 1995 and thus began his exploration into the potential of Paso Robles Wine Country. In 2000, Austin created the Austin Hope label, making very small productions of Rhône varietals from their Estate Vineyard. Though the label has gained notoriety, the productions remain small and extraordinary.
Today, Austin is showcasing an even greater sweep of the region and expressing the richness of Paso Robles with the Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon. Austin oversees the production of Treana, Liberty School, Troublemaker, Quest and Austin Hope wines. Austin now has his sights set on making Paso Robles a household name worldwide and won’t stop until he has accomplished this goal.
